Dr. Yakubu is a graduate of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1993. He received an LL.M and a PhD in law with a focus on international energy law from the Centre for Energy Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom. After several years of working with the law firm of Abdullahi Ibrahim and Company in Kaduna, Yakubu worked with an international oil company in Lagos for two years before joining TotalEnergies in July 2005 where he worked both in Legal and in New Business development. He is presently General Counsel of TotalEnergies Upstream Companies in Nigeria and Vice President Legal for TotalEnergies Affiliates in Nigeria.
