the big issue
Our Environment needs help
The Challenges
Addressing adverse environmental issues requires the participation and long-term commitment of all aspects of society, including the government, consumers, manufacturers, technology developers, the finance community, and civil society.
PLASTIC SOLUTION
Plastics have become a global environmental challenge.
Plastic pollution afflicts land, waterways and oceans thus damaging our environment. It is estimated that 1.1 to 8.8 million metric tons of plastic waste enters the ocean from costal communities each year.
DEFORESTATION
Forests play a critical role in mitigating climate change.
Forests help to mitigate the emission of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Deforestation causes increased green house gasses emissions, disruption of water cycles, and Increased soil erosion, because without trees to anchor fertile soil, erosion can occur and sweep the land into rivers.
POOR WASTE MANAGEMENT
Over 175 million Nigerians live in unclean environments.
The threat of waste to the environment, health and safety is huge. Pollution runs into rivers and seeps into ground water. Flooding is caused by garbage clogging local drains, and our atmosphere is continuously poisoned by the toxic discharge from trash.
AIR POLLUTION
Air pollution can greatly affect human health and our environment
Nigeria has the largest number of deaths due to air pollution in Africa, while the country ranks fourth for air pollution across the globe. Major sources of air pollution in Nigeria include tailpipe exhaust from cars and trucks, smoke from the open burning of residential trash, diesel generators, road dust, oil and gas industry, and soot from the use of biomass-fueled cook stoves indoors
